How to happy
The purpose of our project is mainly to find out what happiness means to others and ultimately what it means to our selves. I am pretty nervous about making the documentary since I have never done anything of this size before but I'm also very excited at the same time since I get to flex my creative muscles for their project. I am also very excited about the multitude of activities we will do throughout this amazing project, our activities range from political rallies to yoga so you could say we really are trying to find something that peaks every single one of our interests and makes us happy.
My mentor, Denise Yamada who works as a life coach invited Mabel and me to one of her workshops. It was during this meeting that I was able to experience an activity that opened my mind to a new world of possibilities. During the workshop I found out that my purpose was Justice, I felt such a strong connection to this word since I have always had this feeling of obligation to advocate for others.

The Happiness Continues
I am really looking forward to working with all of my friends, I can be rest assured that every day will be an exciting day with them filled with the many qualities they have to offer. Every day is also exhilarating since we are always doing something different. Every day also comes with the realization that nothing ever goes as planned just like in life you can't look out for all the variables and you just have to adapt and make do with what you have which is exactly what we are doing every day. I am nervous about the amount of video I am recording and am afraid that I'll have so much great footage I won't be able to use all of it, but I guess it's better to have more than less.
Happiness is a Journey
Wow, how crazy is it that it has already been a week. We've done so much already and have been able to meet so many amazing people from all over. I didn't expect to meet so many wonderful people for example, today we literally meet people from all over the world with the organization we worked with. We were allowed to join and international English school on a scavenger hunt to balboa park and got to learn about the many lives of so many incredible people. It amazed me how there were students from Italy, Spain, South Korea, Japan and more, and we were all able to communicate through speaking English. I even found a part of Balboa park I hadn't been in before which was crazy considering I've been there at least 30 times. I've learned that the world is full of many different kinds of people living their own crazy lives.
Live in the Moment
I am honestly so glad that I choose this project I have not only gotten to know my friends even more than I did before but i've learned a lot about living in the moment and being present with my friends. I have come to realize that these moments are precious and that we should not waste them. I received a few words of wisdom from the director of the ICHOS in little Italy and she told me that if we keep looking ahead to the future and plan for whats next we will never truly appreciate what is happening to us right now.
The project itself is going great we have collected tons of great footage for the documentary it really is going to be hard on deciding what we will use. Everyday we come up with some new activity that we know will spread happiness in the community. For example today we went around Horton plaza passing out cards filled with inspiring messages, that we hope brightened up the day of those who received them.

Happiness is Around Me
Happiness is everywhere
We certainly have realized that time is ticking and that managing our time to finish all of our projects is essential. Each of us have different tasks and we are now beginning to slow things down with the volunteering and starting to take time to work on our projects at school. Now is the time to really get into our final products and see how we really want them to end up. My final product will be the Documentary. Essentially what I want for our documentary is to have a visual display of how we've grown and how our views on happiness have changed I also want to showcase all the different views and perceptions of happiness there is out there. Our documentary will serve to show how complex happiness is and how happiness isn't something you can force.
Happiness is inside me
Here is basically a day of us working on our projects at school and then later on in the day working with the organizations we contacted. I was looking up Bora Bora facts for this cool calendar we're making for the make a wish foundation, I was also working on writing the script for our documentary . In the first picture you can see us having a little fun at a cultural event the Q International school was hosting. Our day is constantly different and nothing is ever the same as the last, we never know what to expect.
Happiness is ahead
My mentor Marcy Morrison went to college in New jersey and got one of her first jobs in Washington D.C, she later on lead her to work in Latin America and the head of to Grad school at UCSD to learn about business ventures in Latin America. With all that said she has come to realize that what she is truly passionate about is helping others find their passion and purpose in life. She has been working as a career coach for the past 10 years with the business she started Career with wings. Externship so far has taught me that there are so many good people out there that are willing to lend you a hand just because. And it has also made me realize that whatever I do I should be passionate about it and full like I have purpose. This project hasn't necessarily changed my career path but what it was done is teach me invaluable life lessons like living in the moment and not stressing out so much about planning whats next because everything important will just pass me by.
Happiness is inside all of us
I feel that my work for this project is very meaningful in the sense that it will show how we have grown and what we have learned throughout this project. My main focus throughout this project has been recording and putting together the documentary, I feel that video editing is very much an artistic outlet for me and has been a valuable skill for me that only keep getting better and better at. I don't think i'll make this into a career but who knows what'll happen in the future. But I do believe that this skill will take my far in life and will help with internships especially since our society has become very visual. We began with the idea that we all wanted to not do the usual externship, we wanted to do something that we would never be able to do otherwise, especially at a time where we are about to enter college and then after we're gonna work in the real world. We soon realized that why not explore happiness for a month an idea a feeling that everyone is constantly pursuing and see what it means for ourselves so we wouldn't have to find out later in life. I've come to realize that happiness is uncontralable and when you try to control it and plan it out or think to hard about it things do not go well.
Peace out
I've learned to appreciate my friends more everyday because we only have such a little time left till we all go our .separate paths. I also learned to appreciate the world around me and just being a live being a bale to live and breath everyday and just live it like it's my last.
I meet someone along the way named Brian. He works at the ICHOS school in little Italy and he is honestly a big inspiration for me he has so much self love and is so confidant in himself. He is someone that has realized that his happiness lies within himself and that nobody should be able to tell him differently, he is so unapologetically living his truth and that is a quality that I aspire to have as well. This externship has inspired me to live as myself for myself and that no one should be able to infringe upon my happiness. This journey has taught me that my happiness is dependant on me and that the external things affect me.
